A lot of Villages buyers walk out onto their lanai, measure 22 by 30 feet of grass, and assume a pool is out of the question. In reality — with the right shape and a smart deck layout — every home style in The Villages can host a pool. Here are the five we build most often.
1. The cocktail pool (10 × 20)
The classic Villages solution. A 10 × 20 freeform or geometric cocktail pool with a 6-foot shallow bench along one side gives you a lap-and-lounge zone, keeps the deck walkable, and fits under the typical Villages screen enclosure footprint without a cage upsize.
2. The L-shape spa combo
An L-shape wraps a pool and spill-over spa around the lanai column, maximizing water surface without eating up the paver walkway. Perfect for patio villas that want hydrotherapy and swim in the same footprint.
3. The courtyard splash spa
Courtyard villas have a fully enclosed interior yard — perfect for a 7 × 7 splash spa with jets, LED color-change lighting and a travertine edge. Private, hurricane-protected and the fastest build in our Villages catalog (3–4 weeks).
4. The infinity-edge view pool
If your Village backs onto a golf course or preserve (Fenney, Monarch Grove, Lake Deaton), a 12 × 25 pool with a vanishing edge toward the view costs less than most assume and transforms the back patio. We handle the ARC packet.
5. The compact lap pool
A 10 × 36 straight lap pool fits along the longer property line in designer and premier homes. Great for daily swim fitness and dramatically narrower than most owners expect.
Deck tricks that make a small pool feel big
- Flush paver-to-pool coping (no raised bond beam) — opens the sightline.
- Large-format travertine (24 × 24 or 24 × 36) — fewer grout lines read as more space.
- Light coping color with a dark Pebble Tec finish — water looks deeper and wider.
- Zero-grade or beach entry on the lanai side — removes the step visually.
- Match the enclosure frame color to the house trim — the cage visually recedes.
